Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix, dry
  • 1 can (21 oz) strawberry pie filling
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, sliced thin
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  2. Spread the entire can of strawberry pie filling evenly across the bottom of the prepared dish.
  3. Sprinkle the sliced fresh strawberries over the pie filling, if using.
  4. Beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and lump-free.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the strawberry layer.
  6. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the dish without stirring.
  7. Drizzle the melted butter over the surface of the cake mix.
  8. Lay the thin slices of remaining butter on any dry spots.
  9. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the filling bubbles slightly.
  10. Let the dump cake rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese for even mixing. Check at 35 minutes to prevent over-browning.
