Garlic Butter Chicken Broccoli

Warm, garlicky, and simple, this Garlic Butter Chicken Broccoli is a weeknight winner that hits all the right notes with tender chicken, fresh broccoli, and a glossy garlic butter sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces, season with salt and black pepper, and sauté for 5 to 6 minutes until golden and cooked through. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add 1/4 cup water and broccoli florets. Cover and steam for 2 to 3 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender. Discard excess water.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low, add butter to the pan, and let it melt. Stir in garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until aromatic, do not brown.
  4. Add soy sauce, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes if using, to the melted butter mixture and mix until glossy.
  5. Return the chicken to the skillet, toss to coat in the sauce, and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes to combine flavors.
  6. Fold the steamed broccoli into the chicken and ensure everything is well coated.
  7. Remove from heat, sprinkle with sesame seeds and parsley if desired, and serve warm with rice, pasta, or cauliflower rice.

Notes

Taste the sauce before adding more salt, since soy sauce adds saltiness. Cook with room temperature chicken for even cooking.
