Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened natural cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips for topping
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt or sour cream, at room temperature
  • 1 and 1/2 cups mashed bananas (about 4 medium or 3 large)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.

  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Incorporate the yogurt, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract into the batter until fully combined.
  6. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until just combined. Pour in hot water and blend until smooth.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
