Cheesesteak Meatloaf

A comforting dish that combines the hearty flavors of a classic cheesesteak with the cozy appeal of meatloaf, topped with gooey provolone cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/2 cup sliced roasted red peppers

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the ground beef, ground pork, finely chopped onion, green bell pepper, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix until everything is well combined.
  3. Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan to create a solid base.
  4. Layer half of the provolone cheese, sliced mushrooms, green onions, and roasted red peppers over the meat mixture.
  5. Top with the remaining meat mixture, pressing it down to seal the edges well.
  6. Bake the meatloaf for 1 hour, or until it is cooked through.
  7. Remove the meatloaf from the oven and sprinkle the remaining provolone cheese over the top. Return it to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve slices with a side of steamed vegetables or creamy mashed potatoes for a complete and satisfying meal.

Notes

Make sure not to overmix the meat mixture to keep the meatloaf tender. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Consider adding extra spices for added flavor.
