Matilda’s Chocolate Cake

A rich and moist chocolate cake perfect for any occasion, capturing the essence of love and comfort in every bite.

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients, beating on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in the boiling water carefully.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For added flavor, consider serving with a dusting of powdered sugar, whipped cream, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
