Cozy Mac and Cheese Meatloaf Casserole

A heartwarming casserole combining creamy mac and cheese layered with flavorful meatloaf and topped with crispy breadcrumbs.

  • 2 cups macaroni pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (sharp cheddar and mozzarella)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt, Pepper, and preferred herbs

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions in salted boiling water. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, and pepper, mixing until just combined.
  3. In a saucepan, whisk milk and half of the shredded cheese over medium heat until melted. Stir in the cooked macaroni.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the mac and cheese, the meatloaf mixture, followed by the remaining mac and cheese.
  5. Sprinkle breadcrumbs evenly on top. Bake for 30-40 minutes until cooked through and golden brown.
  6. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
